Anofale o le Faiaoga – Intentional Teacher Fono in Samoa
The planning and organisation of the fono in Samoa has been progressing very well. We have a delegation of 10 people going from Fanau Pasifika, Nuanua, Toru Fetu, Tairangi Kindergartens and from our office.
The ECE sector is an unpaid workforce who are funded by churches and local fundraising. The National Council of Early Childhood Education provide their ECE services with an annual plan of themes for teacher planning and professional discussions. The Council and colleagues at the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture (MESC) and the University of South Pacific are working on developing their own early childhood education curriculum.
The first two days of the week will be taking part in the Ava Faafeiloaiga (Ava Welcome Ceremony the National Council of ECE, visiting Aoga Amata, Teacher’s Training College, MESC and the National University of Samoa.
This is the first time that an external group has offered to give the ECE sector in Samoa a conference that is relevant and provide lots of ideas and information to support them in their teaching practice and provision of quality early childhood education.
