Nuanua Celebrates Samoan Language Week
As you will be aware, the theme of Samoan Language week this week is “ Ma’au i lou ofaga. Maua’a lou fa’asinomaga”- “Keep your identity alive to thrive”
Nuanua teachers kicked off the celebrations by singing the Samoan national anthem led by Rev Perema Leasi, who is the Minister of the neighbouring PIC Porirua Presbyterian Church.
The children also experienced the activity of 'valu popo'- grating coconut, with Rev. Perema followed by a game of kilikiti - Samoan cricket.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Children and TONI homebased educators from Etu Ao, our homebased learning service also joined in – the Burmese Educators taking on fielding responsibilities with the children: a great example of cross-cultural partnerships!
