About Us and Our Programme

At Silverstream Kindergarten we are committed to providing a warm welcoming, environment for all children and their whānau. Our spacious and vibrant new building with a large outdoor area and established trees provides the perfect setting for tamariki to explore. 


We hold a termly event that all whānau are invited to, so that relationships are developed and strengthened. Our fifth birthday celebrations are a rite of passage and include traditions like “the big jump to school” and wearing a korowai/cloak.


Silverstream was the first kindergarten in the Upper Hutt area and we have a strong sense of community.  We are near Silverstream Village and benefit from the amenities including proximity to both train and bus routes.


We have a close relationship with both local schools, Silverstream and Pinehaven, and a strong transition to school process. We encourage children to learn through play, to explore different experiences and to develop social skills within a warm caring environment. Our teachers work with the children, listening to them, extending their thinking and supporting them to work with each other. Our programme grows from children’s interests. We make sure each child has the opportunity to follow their interests in a supported way during the day’s session.



Monday to Friday:  8:30am  - 2:30pm

We are passionate about children’s art and empowering them to believe in their own creative ability. The teachers take time to display children’s art , showing them how we value their mahi/work.


Each child has a portfolio which documents their learning journey at Silverstream Kindergarten – we encourage families to take an interest in their child’s portfolio and to contribute their own stories and comments about their child’s learning.
