Registration Registration opens for Conference at 11.30am on Monday in the Oceania Room. There will be lots of office staff and signs around to help you find this room.
The Welcome/Mihi Whakatau to Whole Staff Meeting by Matiu Te Huki in the Amokura Gallery Please note that there will not be a karanga (call out, summon) into the Amokura Gallery for the Mihi Whakatau welcoming ceremony led by Matiu. Therefore, please ensure that you are be seated in the Amokura Gallery by 12:50pm on Monday 10 July. Back of House Tour of the Māori Collection Rooms at Te Papa If you are part of the group for this tour please be reminded of the need to adhere to the strict tikanga /cultural protocols as detailed below. Please ensure that you meet this criteria before taking part in the tour:
Te Papa is internationally recognised for the way it works with the source communities of our collections and especially the indigenous Māori people of Aotearoa New Zealand. Our team have learned how to manage and care for Māori treasures in culturally appropriate ways. In fact, a full experience of the Māori collections includes understanding and following some of the cultural protocols and customs of the Māori people who are the Kaitiaki (cultural guardians) of these collections. For your visit we ask that you observe the following:
Car Parking Te Papa offers a special function attendees rate of $10.00 from 6am to 6pm and an evening special of $6.00 from 5pm to 2am the next day. Day hourly parking rate is $4.00 and night hourly is $2.00 from 5pm to 2am the next day. There is a car parking validator machine available inside the hired venue and your guests need to bring their ticket in and pass it through the machine, then they will need to go to a pay station on departure and the special function attendees rate will apply.
Monday Night Canapés and Drinks These will be served in Te Marae from 4.45pm. Please note that for all alcoholic drinks there is a $2.00 charge. Please ensure you have $2.00 coins to use as there is no eftpos facilities available. Non-alcoholic drinks will be free of charge.
Monday Night Conference Dinner from 6.30pm (optional) The venue for this year’s Conference Dinner will be at Mac’s Brew Bar which is located at the start of Taranaki St on Wellington's beautiful waterfront. (Please note that attendance at the dinner is at the participants’ own cost). We look forward to seeing you there!
Teachers Conference Waiata As with previous years all the waiata and imene will be included in the Conference Programme. However, to give you time to practice please see the waiata below which will be sung following the Keynote by Hana O’Regan on Tuesday 11th July.
