Changes to the Senior Teacher Team
Helen Smithies As you are aware Helen Smithies leaves us this Friday (21st July) to begin a new and exciting fixed term role as Assistant Head of Early Childhood at the Sheik Zayed Private Academy for Girls in Abu Dabi. Helen has been a Head Teacher and Senior Teacher with the association and has been a fantastic support to teams over the years. We know that she will be a great asset to the education programmes in Abu Dabi – Bon Voyage Helen!
Soreen Scahill Welcome to Soreen Scahill who will be taking over the Senior Teacher secondment role in Helen’s absence. Soreen has been a Head Teacher, is currently a teacher at Doris Nicholson Kindergarten and also has been working in the Learning Support Project that is taking place around the region. Soreen brings a wealth of knowledge with her to the role, especially her particular expertise in supporting teachers working with children with specific learning needs.
Soreen will be begin her Senior Teacher role on the 24th July 2017. I know that you will join us in congratulating Soreen, she will be a huge asset to the Senior Teacher team.
Annette Collings It is with a mixture of sadness and excitement that we farewell Senior Teacher Annette Collings. Annette is taking up a position with the Hutt City Kindergarten Association as a Senior Teacher. Many of you will have worked with Annette over the years, and will know and appreciate what an excellent professional leader she is. Annette’s last day will be Friday 11th August 2017; we wish her good fortune and look forward to working together in the future.
Everyone is very welcome to attend Annette’s ‘drinks and nibbles’ Farewell which will take place at Silverstream Kindergarten, on Friday 11th August 2017 at 4.00pm. Please can you RSVP by Friday 4th August 2017 to Lorraine at lorraine.coulston@wmkindergartens.org.nz if you wish to attend.
I will be supporting Annette’s teams whilst we go through the process to appoint a new Senior Teacher, and I look forward to working with you all – Sharon.
