About Us and Our Programme

We provide a tiriti-based  environment where the children can grow into competent learners who are self-motivated, can problem solve, follow their interests, set challenges for themselves and learn with and alongside each other.

We celebrate all children’s learning.   We provide the children and whānau with an environment where they are always welcome and we encourage their contribution and participation in our programme. We work in partnership with our community.

We follow a philosophy of place- based education.  This has four main areas of focus - connecting children with the community they live in, becoming ecologically aware, breathing life into history and understanding and celebrating the cultural life of our local community.

Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Maori also have a strong place in our philosophy.

In our kindergarten tamariki, whānau and kaiako are a community of learners who learn together. The environment is stimulating, fun and encourages independent discovery, experimentation and creativity. Our culture empowers tamariki to make decisions and take responsibility for their own learning. It also upholds the mana of tamariki and whānau.

Monday - Friday:   8:30am – 2:30pm

Kaiako and tamariki continue to deepen our understanding of Tikanga Māori, Te Reo Māori and our whakapapa, ensuring a connection to and respectful relationship with our place, whānau, community, environment and history.

All kaiako are fully qualified and registered teachers who are committed to furthering their professional knowledge, understanding and practice through professional development and reflection. Kaiako have a diverse range of experiences and interests which complement each other.
