About Us and Our Programme
Newlands Kindergarten has been part of the Newlands community for 50 years. We feed into 4 local schools and serve an ethnically diverse community with a wide cultural mix. Many of our children are learning English as an additional language.
Working closely with whanau is a big component of our programme and philosophy. We recognise that children come to kindergarten with prior knowledge and skills and we work in partnership with Whānau to foster children’s confidence as a learner.
Our focus is on learning while having fun and providing a warm and welcoming environment.
Diversity is celebrated, and we focus on building social competence and promoting equity and inclusion. We do this by promoting a real sense of belonging, supporting language development, a good sense-of- self, participation and clear communication. Literacy, numeracy, music, drama, and gardening as well as sustainability feature strongly in our programme.
