About Us and Our Programme

We are a community based early childhood service in Featherston, welcoming families from within the town and the surrounding rural area.

'Meta Riddiford Kindergarten - a place where fun and respect are paramount.' Our philosophy is:Together we value our relationships with whānau, community and each other.  We want our children to have firm sense of who they are and  that their contributions are valued.  Through exploration and discovery our children experience a sense of wonder, fun and love of learning.  We provide an environment that respectfully embraces the dual heritage of Aotearoa and the uniqueness of our diverse, multicultural community.

At Meta Riddiford Kindergarten we value relationships with children, families/whānau and the wider community, and endeavour to meet their needs. We want children to feel safe and respected, to be curious and confident learners; to have a sense of self-worth; be secure in their culture and have a sense of belonging. We offer an environment that will encourage and support children’s learning and development, as well as nurture the mana of each child in partnership with parents/whānau.

Monday to Friday:  8:45am - 2:45pm

We encourage parents/caregivers to join the programme, share their aspirations for their child, and take part in fundraising ventures and excursions. We have well developed relationships with our local primary schools and regularly visit them throughout the year with the

children that are ready to transition to school. We support children and whānau for a positive transition to school.
