Carrying the Tapa Catch up Sessions

Carrying the Tapa (Pre-Requisite workshop for Tapasa for new staff members to Whanau Manaaki Association or anyone who has yet to complete this session)

This is a Culturally Responsive workshop to support non-Pasifika teachers working with Pasifika children, their families and community.  Teachers and staff will have the opportunity to explore the cultural context to understand the importance of the core Pasifika values in the Pasifika Education Plan which underpin the world view of Pasifika peoples and how they engage and interact with others.  We will also discuss how these core values can be visible in your environment, your practice and engagement with Pasifika children and their families.

Bringing Music Education into the 21st Century: A new way of looking at music in kindergartens

Play is the universal language of tamariki; the way they explore their world, develop physical and social skills and regulate personal responses to challenging situations.  Musical play experiences is one vehicle in which teachers can support tamariki through situations of conflict and support the developing brain.

This workshop will provide teachers with practical ideas, through musical and digital technologies that will promote social competency, communication and self-regulation.
