About Us and Our Programme

Newlands Kindergarten has been part of the Newlands community for 50 years. We feed into 4 local schools and serve an ethnically diverse community with a wide cultural mix. Many of our children are learning English as a second language.

Our focus is on having fun and providing a warm and welcoming environment. One way we do this is by celebrating community with social events such as our annual wheel-a-thon, pyjama party, Christmas party and other cultural events. Working closely with families is a big component of our programme and philosophy.

Diversity is celebrated, and we have a programme which is very focused on building social competence and promoting equity and inclusion. Some facets of this are; promoting a real sense of belonging, language development, a good sense-of- self, participation and clear communication. Literacy, numeracy, music, drama, and gardening as well as sustainability feature strongly in our programme.

Monday - Friday:  8.30am-2.30pm

We also support risk taking and help children to build resilience and self-belief. We have a well-resourced environment to engage and encourage children’s development in these areas.

There are 5 full time, 100% qualified and registered teachers and an administrator in our team. Our teachers are all experienced ECE practitioners committed to ongoing professional learning and development. As an experienced team we are competent in successfully providing extra support when needed.
