At Brian Webb Kindergarten we are committed to creating an environment of respect and belonging for all families. This provides high-quality, interactive learning opportunities. We have a large outdoor play area to challenge and extend children. It includes a flat grassed area, sloping banks, a large sandpit and concrete and safety surfaced spaces.
We value the dual heritage of Aotearoa and the use of Tikanga and Te Reo Māori is an integral part of our kindergarten culture. As an inclusive community of life-long learners we promote the on-going development of children as competent and confident with a strong sense of self-worth.
We are an enthusiastic team, constantly keeping abreast of latest research and thinking in early childhood education. We have high expectations of ourselves as educators and have high expectations of our children and their growing independence. We work hard to form strong relationships with parents and whānau and we have a supportive committee.
We encourage children to take responsibility for their own possessions. Children find their name tag and choose their own hook and locker. Children hang their bags and coats up and put their lunchbox and drink bottle (water only please) on the food trolleys. As children develop literacy (often as they near school age), they can also choose to find their name and sign in. Once that is done, children choose activities/areas of play. Small group work and music sessions are offered.
