About Us and Our Programme

Arohanui Kindergarten is part of the Teen Parent Unit at Waiopehu College in Levin.

He Whare Manaaki Tangata is the gifted name for the teen parent unit, which includes both the kindergarten, Arohanui, and the secondary education space, Poipoia.

We are a new kindergarten which opened in 2014 to provide early childhood education and care for the tamariki of the parents studying at Poipoia, and we have some spaces available for enrolments from the wider community.

We work together with the kaiako from Poipoia to create a sense of learning together as a community. Some of our parents study with the Open Polytechnic and use our kindergarten as a base to complete their curriculum studies. We are also working together with Poipoia to achieve our Healthy Heart Award , with the parents taking a lead role in decisions about what activities we plan to achieve this.

SESSION TIMES

Monday to Friday:  8:30am - 3:15pm

All kaiako at Arohanui are fully qualified and registered. We are an experienced team committed to providing a high quality education for all our tamariki.

The well-being of tamariki and whānau aspirations are at the heart of our planning and decision making. We intentionally plan for a calm and inclusive environment with safe spaces, and natural experiences for our pepe, as well as providing a stimulating programme for our older tamariki.

We work collaboratively to provide opportunities for children, parents and families to contribute and learn together.
