Arohanui Kindergarten is nestled within the grounds of Waiopehu College, and is the child centred focus of He Whare Manaaki Tangata. He Whare Manaakitanga is the name gifted by local iwi for Horrowhenua's Teen Parent Unit. We offer a warm and welcoming environment where children aged from birth to 5/6 are able to learn alonside each other. There are quiet spaces for babies amongst the rich and stimulating programme provided for older children. We offer education and care for children of students attending Poipoia, as well as enrolments for children in the community.
The wellbeing of tamariki and families is always at the heart of the curriculum we provide, with whanau aspirations being the focus of our planning and decision making. Whanaungatanga under pins our philosphy, and because we are situated within the college we are able to enrich our curriculum with the students and kaiako around us. We have regular excursions with Poipoia as well as outings into our community. Our closeness to Levin East school allows the whole kindergarten to attend powhiri for tamariki who have left, as well as be involved in activities within the college.
