About Us and Our Programme

Greytown Kindergarten has been a part of the rural Wairarapa community for more than 50 years.

Greytown Kindergarten provides a meaningful, creative learning programme with a commitment to environmentalism, empowerment, social and emotional competency, partnership with parents and whānau. Alongside these things is a collaborative commitment to professionalism among the teaching team.

Greytown Kindergarten was recently reviewed by the Education Review Office and is described as ‘very well placed’ to promote positive outcomes for children. The reviewers said the kindergarten provided high quality teaching which challenges and extends children’s learning. The reviewers said the kindergarten provides an innovative, culturally responsive curriculum which supports social skills, literacy and mathematics development.

The kindergarten has a long established and close relationship with the people of Papawai Marae (Ngâti Moe) and with Ngâti Kahungunu iwi.
