Doctoral Student Survey

A request from Doctoral student - Athena Maghsoudinejad.

If you are willing to participate in an anonymous online survey that will take about 30 mins please click here.  This will take you directly to Athena’s online survey.

Greetings, my name is Athena Maghsoudinejad and I am a Doctoral student in the Faculty of Education at Victoria University of Wellington working under the supervision of Professor Vanessa Green. I am writing to you and the staff in your centre to invite you to participate in an anonymous online survey, which will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

As you are well aware early childhood is an important developmental period in which to enhance the quality of children’s social interactions. Knowledge of factors such as parents' and teachers' perceptions of children’s social behaviour may add to the understanding of the processes involved in children’s problematic peer interactions.

The aim of my project is to gain a greater understanding of young children’s problematic peer interactions from the perspective of teachers and parents. In this study, we are asking teachers and parents about hypothetical scenarios of children involved in problematic peer interactions. We are also interested in gaining information about the teaching and parenting styles of the participants.

Participants in this study need to be a teacher who is currently working with children aged 3-5 years in either a Kindergarten or Education and care centre in the Wellington region or a parent or caregiver (this can include grandparents, aunt/uncles, or anyone else who acts as a main caregiver or guardian) who has at least one 3 to 5 year-old child.

I am also wondering if it’s possible to help me by distributing this invitation card among parents who are interested to participate or put this poster on the centre notice board.  I do appreciate your support and it would be a great help in the progress of my study.
